Building work, roofing work, loft insulation.
Mary
He cured a long-standing leak in an outside wall. He insulated the loft. He stabilised the roof of an oast house. He repaired and re-leaded the valley gutter on the house roof. He was extremely efficient and his time keeping was impeccable. The quality of work is good and in three months none of the jobs he has done has proven to be inadequate. Jamie is friendly, efficient and easy to communicate with. I highly recommend him.
Sorting an issue with guttering
Stuart
Jamie has done work for us on many occasions before (reviews are listed), much of it for larger projects than this. We had a problem with the roof that required investigation and then remediation to the guttering and sealing a valley. Jamie sorted for us in a timely and helpful manner.

Elizabeth
Highly recommended. Very helpful, professional service. We had a leaky roof and Jamie came round and gave us two quotes to stop the leak. He also came back to do some extra work on the rafters with no additional charge. Very responsive via text too. Thanks again

Roof rot repairs and soffits
Mrs B, Robertsbridge
It was so good to be able to use someone who is not only local, but also, very, very reliable, tidy and knowledgeable. The work they carried out was impossible to estimate as it was hidden out of sight, but they provided a detailed note of hours worked and materials provided which we could easily check against our own records.
Major rebuild of interior of mid terrace house adapting for a disabled person including levelling floors and constructing wet room.
Mr C, Heathfield
Finished to a very high standard. Communicated well throughout project listening and making helpful suggestions to problems. Worked well with neighbours. Any delays were entirely owing to dealing with officials and suppliers of materials during COVID pandemic. Completely delighted with the work done.Lay a 2mtr brick apron at the foot of a flight of steps.

Mr H, Crowborough

Double flat roof dormer extensions
Andrew, Etchingham
Jamie was tidy, friendly, adapted easily to changes, responded instantly to all phone calls and emails, has an excellent standard of workmanship and a very good team of workers behind him. He stayed invisible from downstairs by isolating the work for as long as possible and when he did break through to the downstairs area he kept it tidy at the end of everyday keeping very good control of dust and mess. Extras were priced quickly and competitively, he was very fair. I would not hesitate to recommend Jamie to anyone, he is very trustworthy and rock solid reliable..very lucky to find him.
Extensive remodel of interior of house, new porch
Joseph, Wadhurst
Jamie (and gang!) were faultless – friendly, professional, with works finished to a high standard. This is the second time we’ve used his services and we couldn’t recommend highly enough – having building work is stressful at the best of times but Jamie made things go a hell of a lot smoother – reliable, to budget and genuinely a pleasure to have in and around the house (for a couple of months) while pretty much the whole place was torn apart and rebuilt!
Missing roof slates, repointing
Victoria, Heathfield
Jamie did an excellent job for us as usual. Only a couple of small bits this time – a few slipped slates to replace, some chimney repointing and checking that the liner of our chimney was still in place. Jamie has done work for us a number of times, from larger jobs with a bigger team to the odd little patch up and we have always been extremely pleased with the work. You always get a quick reply to any query regardless of how busy he is and he is always friendly and helpful. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Jamie to anyone looking for a reliable, trustworthy builder who won’t rip you off.

What an amazing transformation – thank you Jamie, Mark and the rest of the crew. Jamie stuck to time and budget on this job (again) and the results are fantastic. For the final part of this we put them under some pressure as we needed it finished whilst we were on holiday and Jamie brought in a crack team of decorators to do the final flourish for us over a bank holiday weekend – If you want a job done well, and you want someone reliable and friendly working with you look no further. I can’t recommend Jamie and his team enough. Thank you again.

Large two storey rear extension and side extension.
James, Crowborough
Jamie and his crew has redefined what I now expect from all tradesmen. Jamie himself is a perfectionist and went out of his way to make sure we were happy with everything about the build. This was a big project and he handled every aspect of it with the upmost professionalism throughout. He was very easy to keep in contact with throughout and kept us informed at each stage of the build. He made what might have been a stressful build into a quite an enjoyable experience. Jamie’s crew were fantastic as well, we actually miss having them around now it is all finished. Thank you Jamie and team.
Track and trace works to find and repair a water leak.
Mrs C, Wadhurst
We were very pleased with the work. Jamie came promptly to look at what was needed and started the next day. The works were disruptive, involving bringing down part of a plaster ceiling but the operatives used plenty of protection and I would say the area was cleaner when they left than when they arrived. He introduced his operatives who were courteous, hard working and did a good job. We are hoping he will return to perform the redecoration when we have selected the wallpaper etc.

Ned, Etchingham
I can recommend Jamie Smith who has carried out roofing and chimney repairs for us over the 2016-2017 winter and is currently refurbishing another property for us. He is an affable and intelligent builder who cares about doing a good job and is justified in charging what seems to be the going rate. Jamie runs a small friendly team of builders with a good work ethic, good manners and a can-do approach. For more specialised work (complex joinery, plumbing, electrics) he hires in his contacts in the trade, who’ve also been skilled and pleasant to work with.

I would have no hesitation in recommending him.

Mr A, Tunbridge Wells
Jamie went beyond what was required of him. He provided photos and good explanations of what work needed to be undertaken to achieve a professional finish particularly around the chimney stack and on my roof. His level of finish and cleanliness is as high as standard as I have seen from any tradesman. He has also decorated my windows. A very easy person to speak with whom I would happily recommend.
Remediating brickwork and replacing sash windows
Stuart, Tunbridge Wells
We needed to replace a large number of broken and worn decorative Victorian bricks (dentils; moulded bricks under windowsills; and brick panels). Jamie invested considerable time before the work started to help us source made-to-order bricks. The broken bricks were removed and replaced, and two new sash windows were fitted as part of the work. We are very pleased with guidance we received and the outcome achieved.
Changing front entrance and hallway to house
Stuart, Tunbridge Wells
Jamie worked with us to understand our (largely undocumented) requirements and helped by providing input through the process. The work required multiple trades that Jamie coordinated, he also liaised with the specialist contractors we engaged for certain requirements. We started the work knowing that specific issues could be found once the room was stripped back to brickwork – through ongoing consultation and regular reviews, all additional remediation to ready the room was agreed and changes incorporated into the build. The work was to a high quality and we are v. pleased with the results.
Gutting and fitting out cellar
Stuart, Tunbridge Wells
The cellar required a lot of remediation and preparation prior to re-fit. Jamie assisted throughout the process (planning, design, and delivery) by understanding our requirements and making recommendations on how to achieve the required outcome. Working to a tight timeline Jamie coordinated the work across multiple trades, kept us informed, and achieved a high standard of delivery.

Jamie and the team installed additional cross timbers and central beams to provide support for additional ties and struts. They had their own scaffolding to get this job done which was a huge bonus. They removed a few roof tiles and cut small openings, where they could slide in the large (5m) cross timbers. We are very pleased with the finished work.
Fitting RSJ over internal opening.
Mr P, Tunbridge Wells

Mr P, Tunbridge Wells
During his first visit we realised his attention to detail sets him apart. He asked and pointed out things other builders didn’t and we liked that. His quote wasn’t the lowest but we’d already learned a lesson so we gave him the job. He and his team came on time from day one. Always gave us multiple options to solve problems and gave fair quote for additional works. Communication was great, he replied to emails promptly, sent text messages to keep us up to date as we weren’t on the site 90% of the times. The team always left the site clean and neat.
